As we move in to the holiday season of gifting, remember you are the ultimate gift, you are the ultimate treasure.
Say it with me:
“I am a treasure and I treat myself as such.” – L. Kay Smith
I wrote this affirmation years ago, and it is a reminder to me not to settle, not to accept less than my worth; For I am a treasure, and I believe that you are too. It’s important to remember ourselves as the beautiful souls we are, or have the potential to be.
If you saw yourself as treasure, how would you treat yourself? How are you treating yourself now?
I am all about doing your personal work, looking at yourself and your part in things, looking at your own edges. Asking yourself am I developing in to a fine wine, that becomes richer and fuller with time, or am I becoming vinegar. The fermentation process is in each choice you make.
Every time you compromise your value set, you harm yourself. Every time, you allow another to compromise you, you harm yourself. So choose yourself, over and over again.
Understand and recognize your value set. Ask yourself what is my code of honor? Write it down, so you can live by it, for each time you compromise it, you harm yourself. Your soul always knows, there is a quiet voice asking you to live
in alignment with your code. Keep in mind, that as you do the work of excavation and as you develop your code, authenticity is a possible outcome.
By knowing ourselves and by making congruent choices with our honor code, we develop jewels of self-love, self-worth, inner strength and inner integrity. Eventually, you develop your own rhythm or dance with this thing we call life, and it is so important to like yourself and understand yourself. Especially, if you are going to love yourself and walk with yourself. You live with yourself in a way that no one else does. So, do the work, find your jewels, develop your code.
Treat yourself as a treasure. Maybe even a long lost one, you can excavate and find again. You are the treasure. You are the gold, alchemize into the best being you can envision, so you are the beacon in the night for others to see.
This is in no way asking you to be the narcissist. It is quite the opposite. This is self-reflection, this is mirror work, this is excavation. This is an invitation to find the jewel of self-knowing, and aligning with the best version of you, that can be envisioned in this moment, and then moving towards that. It is asking, what do I need so that I may stretch into that being? For your treasure is hidden under stories and false persona, it may take a beat to excavate or said another way to dig down deep into yourself to find.
And it is so worth it. It is so much more peaceful to be aligned with your being, than to be a boat a drift. Life is lived more connected when you have found your higher power or spiritual path. I know the work can be hard and ugly at times, but the gift, wow the gift of you, it is so worth it. Believe that you are worth it, because you are.
Remember, I am the gold, I am the treasure, and I treat myself as such.
